Esher Rugby Club (“ERFC” or the “Club”) today announces that an Esher stalwart, Neil Hallet, the Club’s record points scorer will be leaving his role as Attack and Backs Coach now the 2025/6 season has ended.

An excellent kicker, Neil is best known for his playing time at Esher where he played 128 games (and was a coach for 134) and during that time he scored over 1,300 points for the Club in all competitions.

He is also one of the most prolific scorers in tier three history, Neil won two England Counties caps, was a three time County Championship winner with Surrey and represented the Barbarians during his playing career.

Esher Rugby Club would like to thank Neil for a truly outstanding contribution to the Club for so many years, more recently in his coaching role, and look forward to continuing to welcome this Esher Legend at the Club in future years.

Mark Bennett (President of Esher Rugby Club) said:

“We all would like to thank Neil for the great job he has done and for his long standing and amazing playing days at Esher. We all have super memories of him on the pitch! We wish him all the best for the future and very much look forward to continuing to see him down at the Club.”

Mike Brown (Sporting Director of Esher Rugby Club) said:

“I’d like to personally thank Neil for everything he’s given to Esher RFC as he moves on following changes to the coaching structure. From the moment I came in, Neil has been a huge support to me, honest, hard-working, and fully committed to the group. The effort he’s put in this season, and over a number of years at the club, has been clear to everyone. That includes not just his work as a coach, but also the contribution he made during his time as a player. He’s given a great deal to Esher over a long period, and that shouldn’t be underestimated. I’m really grateful for everything he’s done and wish him all the very best.”
