The Board of Esher Rugby today confirms the departure of Peter Winterbottom MBE from his role as Director of Rugby.
Since his appointment in 2019, Peter has brought exceptional experience and leadership to the club, guiding Esher through two promotions to National League 1 during his tenure. A true legend of the game, Winterbottom was inducted into the Twickenham “Wall of Fame” in 2005 and remains one of rugby’s most iconic figures. He will always be a welcome guest at Esher Rugby.
Mark Bennett, Club President, played under Peter during his first season as Director of Rugby at Esher, expressed heartfelt thanks for Peter’s outstanding contribution over the past six years:
"Peter’s impact on our players and the wider club has been immense. His knowledge, professionalism, and passion for the sport have left a lasting legacy. However, recent challenges with First XV form have accelerated the need for a fresh direction."
