Head Coach - Women's Rugby

(based on the RFU template for volunteer coaches)

You will be responsible for training a group of ladies 18 and over, new to the game, as well as experienced, in preparation for XRugby7s and Rugby 7s games, in 2018-19.

You'll need to be:

- Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the XVs, XRubgy7s and the 7s game

- Knowledgeable of the Activate injury prevention exercise program and RFU's coaching principles and terminology

- Possessor of an RFU Coaching Award and willing to constantly update your knowledge of the game

- Confident, willing to take charge of your role and responsibilities, able to coach independently as well as part of a team of coaches

- Good at communicating with the team in training

- Willing to engage with the team and promote it outside of training, through social media

- Committed to fair play

- Well-organised, planned

- Willing to accept member feedback and act on it from one session to the other

- Willing to delegate agreed responsibilities to the assistant coach to ensure that he/she feels valued and their expertise is used effectively

- Willing to liaise with Esher RFC and its team of coaches, managers, referees and mentors

It would be ideal if you live closeby, have experience coaching women of all ages and if you can mix and match coaching styles in order to adapt to our individual member needs.

What you'll do:

- Plan and run safe, structured, effective and enjoyable/fun training sessions

- Retain players and work with relevant volunteers to recruit and welcome players

- Build team spirit and encourage participation

- Develop individuals' skill, confidence and fitness

- Select the team and set the tactics for games

- Mentor and advise the assistant coach where appropriate

- Work with the Esher Lionesses Manager and the Esher RFC Chairman of Rugby in order to continue learning and developing

- Liaise with the physio team regularly and keep track of injured players' recovery program

- Embrace the culture of Esher RFC, promote it via social media and participate in our club's social / team events

- Attend the regular Lionesses management meetings where you will also provide an update in relation to the targets you have set for yourself and for the team for the year

- Accompany us to regional meetings and familiarise yourself with Surrey's plans for 2018-19 as well as with RFU's objectives and plans for women's rugby development

- Promote fair play, standards and codes of conduct

- Provide leadership – set an example for the coaching team and squad and inspire the coaching team and players to ensure that all involved maximise their potential

You will be supported by an ambitious and organised team of volunteers who have a plan for the Lionesses for the year, by a great National 1 club, a very knowledgeable physio team available at training sessions and games and by a committed RFU mentor. The main training session is currently held on Mondays 7.30pm; please note that one of our "no-no"s is: "no cancelled" sessions.
