U15 Esher v Warlingham – Friendly

Match Official: our very own Richard armed with his new RFU official and very loud whistle 😊

Warlingham started on the front foot with an early try Esher through the middle of the Esher defensive line with their conversion not quite making it over.

Esher boys took a while to get their heads into the game as a well drilled and disciplined Warlingham ran a further 5 tries past Esher in the first half, none were converted.

Charlie's kicking at the restart was excellent and gave Esher some opportunities to win the ball early, on one occasion with Tom powering for the line without too much support but eventually tackled and ball lost back to Warlingham in the ruck.

The second half took on a very different dynamic with the Esher boys galvanized and with their heads very much in the game by now – scored 4 tries all but one converted by the superb boot of Charlie. Try scorers for Esher were Tom, Kristian and Josh Davies

Esher won the second half, gaining in momentum and confidence after a slow start to their match – showing great determination and steel to rally back after being 30 points behind at half time.

Warlingham continued to be strong opponents in the second half, scoring another couple of well worked tries through their running backs.

It was great to see Shaq on his first run out for Esher, putting in some great tackles and a couple of powerful carries – look forward to more from Shaq in future. Tom and Tylar combined well down the wing on several occasions and some big tackles made by so many of the boys in the second half – one was so fierce Harry had to come off for 5 minutes to get his breath back!

As the final whistle sounded the final score 26-43 was a fair reflection of a game of two halves – which when the Esher boys found their game heads in the second half, were pretty much equal to Warlingham, a team a couple of tiers above Esher..
