Another good week with lots of effort and skill on display. We entertained Camberley, who turned up with 2 full teams, unfortunately we were not able to do the same. After our now normal warm-up and fitness drill (which I believe is starting to pay off) we split into our respective teams to focus on our game plan. Our's was simple – Forwards to hunt in 3's to secure good, fast ball, and the Backs to ship it out to the wings.
We played 4 games of 7 minutes each. All in all I think we did really well. We executed the game plan brilliantly in the first match – a really good display of rugby. The we took our foot off the gas and let them back into the game. Matches 3 and 4 we started to get back to form, however I have to be fair and say that by the 4th match our boys were looking tired. However, all in all, I was really pleased with the team performance, and the individual contributions (well done Ethan for another outstanding performance and for winning Player of the Week). Given the fact that we were missing about 7 players, and had players playing out of position, I think the boys did really well. I was particularly pleased with the offloading in the tackle which resulted in at least 2 tries. So well done all round, practice at training sessions does pay off!
This week we have Chipstead – they will be big and physical, so it would be great if all the boys could make an effort to be there this weekend and bring with them their concentration and basic skills…no more letting one person run through a whole team…1,2,3 hit!
