Pete Synnott has signed on with Esher Rugby Club for another season, making it his fifth season wearing the black and amber.
The 25 year old back-row is known for being a versatile player, a forward that is as comfortable with ball in hand as he is making abrasive collisions on the gain line. Pete even took over kicking responsibilities whist Esher were in the Championship, as well as playing in the centres against Old Albanian RFC two seasons back.
Pete has proven himself to be a fantastic clubman, and is well known throughout the Club. He showed his off his skillsets further last season by being part of the Esher side that won the Tobago International Sevens tournament. However, the Irishman's gaze is firmly set on righting the wrongs of a disappointing season and working hard for the badge:
"It was an easy decision for me to stay. After what was an indifferent year on the pitch it wouldn't have been right to move on as I feel like we need to re-establish the club position as a top 4 team and club."
"Hopefully the disappointing year is behind us and it can act as a wake up call for the whole club so that we can move on and have a successful year. Esher's a great club with many great people behind the scenes and I hope we can reward their hard work with a few away wins."
This will be a tough season for all involved at Molesey Road, but as a seasoned warrior for the Club Synnott knows that getting everything in place over the coming months is key to re-affirming Esher as a top 4 team. Pete also has a personal drive to achieve a landmark few players will realize for the 1st XV:
"The league has grown massively over the past three seasons and this year will be no different with the inclusion of the short trip south to Plymouth and the promotion of Ampthill. We have to make sure we prepare well and give ourselves the opportunity to bounce back and climb up the table."
"On a personal note I hope that I will make my 100th appearance for the club. This is a nice milestone to have and is something to keep me motivated and look back on in a few years. "
