Luke Daniels is the latest key player to re-sign for Esher as they look to build on last season’s strong performance.
Daniels, 21, has the ability to play both Full Back and Fly Half which makes him a valuable member of the squad. He made 18 appearances in an injury hit campaign last season scoring five tries and 162 points in total. He has been with the club for two seasons since arriving from South Africa and after starting at full back in his first campaign, he made the switch back to his natural position of fly half last term.
Speaking about his decision to re-sign for the club he said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Esher so far and I'm really looking forward to the start of the new season. I believe the club is heading in the right direction. We have a close squad who work hard for each other and push each other to our full potential. I believe we have a realistic goal of being promoted back into the Championship and I would love to be a part of that.”
He added: "Everyone needs to buy into our goal of winning National 1. We have a strong squad with lots of competition for positions which will push us and keep us on our toes. We need to treat each week as a new challenge and take any opportunities with both hands.”
“Personally I think last season was good for me. Although I missed almost half the games due to an ankle injury, I gained experience at 10 where I hadn't played for over a year. My goal this season is to contribute consistently both on and off the field. As a club I would like to see us win the league and gain promotion back into the championship.”
“Before moving to England and joining Esher I had never played fullback before. So becoming comfortable in another position which I really enjoy has been good for me. Since joining I have played under top coaches and alongside some top players with loads of experience, which has helped me improve all aspects of my game, but saying that I still have a lot to learn and to improve.”
