Esher RFC is happy to announce that Alex Bibic has re-signed for another season at Molesey Road.
Bibic shone late on in the 2012/13 after injuries had interrupted the start of his first season with the club.
He will look to be one of the many young players making a big leap this season as Esher look to build on their success.
“We need to keep consistent. Often last season it took a shock result for us to turn on and I think if we can keep our foot on the pedal and keep our performances consistently high throughout the season we will be seriously pushing for promotion. I think for me it’s just about doing the basics right week in week out, ruck, scrum, tackle, carry and win line outs. Any extras are just a bonus and will come with executing the basics well.”
He added; “I believe competition is always key to a successful side; it keeps you working, training hard and pushing yourself. The last thing you want as a team is having players be comfortable and not concerned about selection as it is then that you see players stop working. “
“There's obviously huge competition in the forwards but having such a decent pack can only spur you on more, especially when we have the quality of players. I will just continue to train hard, prep myself for the season ahead, and try to impress when I get the chance.”
As the players have started pre-season training and Bibic is looking forward to the 2013/14 season;
“There is always going to be pressure to perform coming into a side fighting for promotion to the Championship but it's about working hard and taking your opportunities when you get given them. I think being thrown into the deep end has helped me a lot, rather than thinking about any pressure you just have to step up and try your best. I believe I have developed hugely under the coaching team at the club as well as have learnt a lot playing alongside some really experienced and quality players at Esher but, having said that still have a lot more to learn and still have a long way to go.”
“The team looks good so far in preseason and even though we have only been back a few sessions everyone is looking sharp and focused for the season ahead. The boys that have come in this summer have settled in nicely and being such a tight group promotion is definitely a realistic goal. We definitely have the talent and the drive to push for promotion and I think everyone is driven to achieve that.”
