Esher Rugby Club hosted a Meet & Greet evening for all supporters, fans and members on September 3.
The evening was held in the Downey Suite as the Brackenbury Bar underwent the final preparations of its development before Saturday. The night offered a great chance to meet the 1st XV players ahead of the new season, talk to backroom staff and socialise with other supporters.
The night was kicked off by Mike Schmid who outlined the plan for Esher over the coming months and the ambition to get the Club back into the Championship. Dean Hartry, Commercial Manager, also spoke of the great sponsorship opportunities that are available at the club as well as the match day hospitality packages and the club's sevens trip to Tobago.
Mike Gadbury then introduced Esher's new Debenture scheme, allowing supporters and players to buy Membership to the Club for 10, 20 or 30 years, priced respectively at £1,000, £2,000 and £3,000. For more information download the document here
The focus was then moved to the 1st XV who introduced one another, including interesting facts and nicknames within the squad. The night was topped off with a Q&A session from centre Tom Cheeseman who interviewed fellow team-mates Ian Kench, Andy Garner, Ian Cross, Peter Synnott, Neilus Keough and Harrison Collins. This was the highlight of the evening, with Kench alluding to the need to win away from home this year and how the team has bonded during pre-season.
The meeting was also a great chance to meet our new Events Manager, Emma Stacey, and our new Food and Bar Manager, Zoe Archer. Ben Wright was also introduced as Communications Manager.
It was a great night for supporters and players, but was also a great chance to thank some volunteers at the Club who have donated alot of time during Esher's recent redevelopments, chiefly Wendy Taylor. There were many others who were celebrated for their efforts and it was great proof of Esher's community spirit.
