The inaugural WSM Charity Sevens is all set for kick-off this Saturday, as a host of local club and invitational sides battle it out to win the competition, in aid of the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.
WSM, one of the leading accountancy practises in the country, have put together a superb day of rugby, food and fun and there are still spaces available for teams to enter, at a £100 for a 12-man squad. The first round of games will commence at 10.30am.
All proceeds will go to Rainbow Trust, backed by both WSM and Esher Rugby, and the event is one that Esher Chief Executive Mike Schmid, and WSM Marketing Co-ordinator Kayley Hackshaw, are both backing to be a long-term success.
“We’re really excited to be hosting an event that is open to all, and it promises to be a superb day, not just packed full of rugby, but also of the local community doing its bit to help a great cause,” said Schmid.
“Over the years we have been very fortunate to host national and international events, but this is something different.
“It’s an opportunity to bring people who may not necessarily even be involved in rugby on a regular basis to come down and have some fun, and we hope we’ll be able to do it on a regular basis.”
Hackshaw, who has played a leading hand in organising the day on behalf of WSM, was equally excited, very much looking forward to Saturday rolling around.
“The anticipation and build-up has been hard work, but so rewarding, and we simply can’t wait for the day.
“There’s a good mix of teams involved, including a WSM side and an Esher group, and it’s going to be a lot of fun.
“To support Rainbow Trust is something that both the club and we at WSM feel passionately about, and I hope that it’s a successful day, on and off the pitch.”
It’s not too late to get your team involved. Head to www.wsm.co.uk/rugby and follow the instructions, or send either Kayley Hackshaw or Ben Lee an email. Details can be found below.
