Esher Rugby Juniors Section

New players (from U13 to U18) will always receive a warm welcome from the Junior Section at Esher throughout the season. Similarly, we welcome the support from the players' families, which is an integral element in the development of any good Youth Section. Registration starts on Sunday 6th September 2009.

The primarily emphasises is on learning new skills, building self-confidence, establishing strong team principles and, most importantly, having fun. The club operates within the RFU/Sport England Welfare of Young People in Rugby Union. This covers the safety of all young people unde the age of 18. All coaches, managers, volunteers and administrators within this Section are CRB cleared.

Such is the popularity of our club, we field teams in the Surrey Youth Leagues at every age-group (with two teams in the U13s, U14s, U15s, U16s and U18s). We also run an U15s girls team and an U18 girls team. We operate an Elite Development Centre in partnership with Brooklands and Merris Wood, Guildford college students between the ages of 16-18 on a Wednesday afternoon when young people benefit from the expertise of our Director of Rugby, Mike Schmid. Their progress is monitored and they progress into our senior squad system. We actively suport schools rugby and are happy to run rugby classes within primary and secondary schools upon request. Our young members are encouraged to take an active role within their club, and are offered opportutunites to ball boy at senior matches, take refereeing, first aid and coaching courses, and our most talented players are supported through their County and Academy careers.
