The Esher RUFC Golf Society at present meets three or four times a year. We aim to play some golf, have a couple of beers and raise some money for the club to pay for an advert in the program or sponsor a match.
In February we play for the Alan Prentice trophy at New Zealand Golf Club in Woodham. New Zealand G.C. is without doubt one of the best and most attractive courses in Surrey and this meeting is normally very well attended. The format for the day is 18 holes singles stapleford for the Alan Prentice Trophy, a fabulous brunch which sets us all up for a more light hearted team event in the afternoon over 12 or 13 holes. The team event is a Texas Scramble or 3-ball, best 2 score or some-such. Prize giving is accompanied by sandwiches and a couple of beers....
Our second day is the 'society' day at Effingham Golf Club in early October. Here we play for two trophies. The morning is 18 hole single stapleford playing for the Esher Bowl and, following a ploughmans lunch, a foursomes for the Panton Trophy followed by an excellent four course evening dinner.
On the day of the Club christmas lunch we hold a 'four club challenge' at Hersham Village Golf Club. An early start allows us to be at the Rugby Club in time for christmas Lunch and watch Esher RUFC play.
There are ad-hoc summer meetings at courses of the pedigree of Les Mielles (Jersey), Pyrford, West Hill, Tyrells Wood etc.
